When Corning playwright Meghan O’Toole sets out to research the remarkable women who shaped her community, she never expects her subjects to show up in her living room! From trailblazing activists to unconventional rebels, a gathering of extraordinary women from Corning’s past turns into a lively, often hilarious conversation about women’s rights, personal freedom, and how far society has—and hasn’t—come.

But when a young woman from today’s generation joins the discussion, the conversation takes an unexpected turn. As generations challenge one another, long-held assumptions are questioned, uncomfortable truths emerge, and the complicated legacies of these historical figures come into focus.

Funny, thought-provoking, and full of spirited debate, The Creative Response to the Potential of Light explores the power of telling our stories, learning from our past, and finding the courage to keep fighting for a brighter future.

What if the women who changed history could join you for tea?
